Photography has always been a favourite hobby of mine, beginning in my university days with my go-to, starter Canon, and progressing as my interests branched out to shooting solely on film with my Olympus OM1. However, since moving to the bustling city of Tokyo, I have discovered more of the Japanese brand, Fujifilm — cameras, lens and all — which led to my eventual dive into street photography. I’ve always been enthralled by the raw candidness of people going about their daily lives. In other words, a poetic way of admitting I enjoy people watching.

Made up of over 37 million people and a vast landmass of evolving urban life, Tokyo is the biggest in the world and provides a lifetime of possibilities to photographers seeking adventures in both the city and nature alike. Additionally, a nice perk to photographing the Japanese people is that they are not the type to aggressively confront others, making it much less of an intimidating process to continue my journey in this form of photography.

Below is a range of photos I’ve taken over the course of my first year in Japan. I am excited to be sharing much more of this content in the months to come, so feel free to stay tuned.

As this is my first post — thank you for stopping by!
